Fellows to be recognized at the Annual Meetings in Cincinnati in October
MADISON, WI - Aug. 30, 2012 The Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) announces the following 2012 Fellows that will be formally recognized during their Annual Meetings, Oct. 21-24, 2012 in Cincinnati, OH. Members of the Society nominate worthy colleagues based on their professional achievements and meritorious service. Only 0.3 percent of the Society's active and emeritus members may be elected Fellow. The 2012 class of CSSA Fellows are:
Marc C. Albertsen, Dupont Pioneer - CSSA Fellow: Marc C. Albertsen is a Senior Research Fellow/Director in DuPont's Ag Biotech group at Johnston, IA. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Iowa State University, and a Ph.D. from the Univ. of Minnesota. He was a post-doc at Iowa State University.
Fred L. Allen, University of Tennessee - Knoxville - CSSA Fellow: Fred Allen is a Professor and Plant Breeder, Department of Plant Sciences, University of Tennessee. He has a B.S. from Tennessee Technological University, M.S. Virginia Tech, and Ph.D. from University of Minnesota.
E. Charles Brummer, Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation - CSSA Fellow: Charlie Brummer is the Director of the Forage Improvement Division at the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation. He received a B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Georgia. Previously, he was on the faculty at Iowa State University and the University of Georgia as the forage and bioenergy crop breeder.
David M. Bubeck, Dupont Pioneer Inc. - CSSA Fellow: David Bubeck is a Research Director in Maize Product Development at DuPont Pioneer in Johnston, IA. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agronomy from Iowa State University, and a Ph.D. in Crop Science from North Carolina State University.
Patrick Byrne, Colorado State University - CSSA Fellow: Patrick Byrne is a Professor and Plant Geneticist in the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at Colorado State University. He received a B.A. from Washington University and M.S. and Ph.D. from University of Missouri.
Jack D. Fry, Kansas State University - CSSA Fellow: Jack D. Fry is a Professor in the Department of Horticulture, Forestry, and Recreation Resources at Kansas State University. He received a B.S. degree from Kansas State University, M.S. from University of Maryland, and Ph.D. from Colorado State University.
Kimberly Garland-Campbell, USDA-ARS, Pullman, WA - CSSA Fellow: Kimberly Garland-Campbell is a wheat geneticist and breeder at USDA-ARS at Pullman, WA and an adjunct faculty member at Washington State University. She received a Ph.D. in Crop Science from North Carolina State University in 1992 and was a winter wheat breeder (1992-1999) at Ohio State University.
Carl A. Griffey, Virginia Tech - CSSA Fellow: Carl Griffey is the W.G. Wysor Professor in Crop & Soil Environmental Sciences at Virginia Tech. He received a B.S. from University of Tennessee, M.S. from Washington State University, and Ph.D. from University of Nebraska.
Bao-Luo Ma, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada - CSSA Fellow: Dr. Bao-Luo Ma is a Research Scientist of crop physiology and nutrient management at the Eastern Cereal and Oilseed Research Centre of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. He received a B.Sc. degree from Henan Agricultural University and Ph.D. from McGill University.
David C. Nielsen, USDA-ARS - CSSA Fellow: David C. Nielsen is a Research Agronomist with the USDA-ARS Central Great Plains Research Station in Akron, CO. Dr. Nielsen received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Iowa State University, and Ph.D. from University of Nebraska.
William T. Schapaugh, Jr., Kansas State University - CSSA Fellow: William T. Schapaugh, Jr. is a professor and soybean breeder in the Kansas State University Department of Agronomy. He received a B.S. from Iowa State University and M.S. and Ph.D. from Purdue University.
